Anti social behaviour and racist attacks

Last night, a family of 5 in Cantril Farm were treated to a shower of bricks after rumours of them being ‘grasses’ culminated in an attack on their home. Mum, dad and three kids had already faced an increasing campaign of abuse including racism.

The mob turned up (just like in Northern Ireland) to hurl bricks and abuse at them. The cover of ‘mischief night’ gave most mobs last night the chance to wreck something and get away Scott free. Vandalism on the scale of malicious criminal damage was reported by working class people all over Merseyside. For every call the police received, perhaps another 50 or so people thought ‘what’s the point in calling?’

To think that we have come to this.

A recent survey on whether people were in favour of torture has thrown up some worrying results indeed. Despite all the countries involved being signatures to the Geneva Convention on Human Rights, which prohibits torture, the survey shows that many nations are taking a dangerous turn for the worse. Over one third of 27,000 people in 25 countries gave a thumb up for the guardians of the state to torture ‘prisoners’.

At their annual conference in September, local MP George Howarth received fulsome praise from the new labour war leader, Tory Blair.

Of Howarth, Blair said “he left his government without a word of bitterness” And added “he never forgot his principles when in office” He went on. “This is the party I am proud to lead” What does Blair drink!

When he first entered Parliament, Howarth described himself a centre left politician.

While he was a local Councillor, he was into nuclear free zones, and anti war protestations. He opposed privatisations, and the fat cat pay of the money men in the City of London. Under new labour all this has progressed in spades.

Off the Buses

The idiots who run the bus services in Knowsley, and the rest of Liverpool, might care to ponder why local people, including pensioners, might have to be left waiting for over an hour, as yet another bus service, as advertised on the timetables, fails to arrive on time. This has been going on for years, with a once decent bus service, that was reliable, now reduced to one which is pretty much in chaos.

Progress Report

A major internal investigation is being carried out by Knowsley Council after a local Councillor was accused of sending what appeared to be a racist joke from her works computer.

This was the lead story in the Councils own spin newspaper The Challenge. It appeared in the February 2006 edition.

The Deity of new labour.

Many of Merseyside’s political watchers now realise the saintly status Henshaw is afforded by the new labour high command of Blair, Jonathan Powell, & Mandelson.

Slow on the uptake, and overeager to impress our new labour rulers, local journalists fell over themselves to follow the contrived news spin that Henshaw peddled when he bossed Liverpool and Knowsley Council’s.

Akinwale Arobieke, better known as Purple Aki, had just finished serving a 30 month prison sentence for threats to kill when he was sentenced again in 2003, for a period of 6 years. Having now served the obligatory half sentence, he is back out on the streets at a destination as yet unknown. The 6ft 5 inches, 20 stone man terrified local and not so local male youths for years with his inappropriate behaviour which involved feeling the muscles of young men in a manner which was never put in the category of sexual harassment for some strange reason. He was almost thought to be an urban myth.

Smell of Sonae

The smell of the Sonae pollution was reported again by several residents of Northwood Kirkby on the 24th of October. Sonae is a Portuguese owned chipboard manufacturing plant in Kirkby, overshadowing the Northwood community and a constant source of various pollutants since it was set up. Sonae were behind moves to close down The Kirkby Times in the third legal ban before we decided to become The Liverpool Times. (We might as well be damned for the whole city) An employee working for a local firm connected to Sonae, was accused of passing information to The Kirkby Times. He was fired, leaving him in the unenviable position of being unemployed whilst trying to raise a family. The accusations against the employee were a pack of lies.

Some of our local school-kids in Liverpool bravely went on strike from school to support the anti war campaign when the Iraq war broke out. New labour condemned these brave young protestors, but as history will record, their efforts were as relevant as the suffragettes. When children speak out as individuals, we ought to listen, but when they find a common voice, they are probably right.

One of the young protestors in Liverpool was an 11yr old schoolboy called Thomas Thompson. On the Kirkby Times, we reported the death of young Thomas, a victim of child suicide, caused by bullying and the pressures that this nation seems to pile up for its own children. His opposition to the war showed more courage than entire ranks of cowardly gutless murderous swine in Parliament have shown.

Recent data, released under Freedom of Information legislation, shows that white people are more likely to be the victims of racist attacks. Between 1995 and 2004 there have been 58 murders where the police consider that some racial element was a key part. Out of these, 24 have been where the murder victim was white. Given that whites represent some 90% of the UK population, you would have thought that over 90% of the race murders would be committed by whites on ethnic minorities. The figure of 50% does include instances of one Jewish murder, and East European murders and possibly other factors such as Scottish and English and so on. The figures have not been analysed but they seem to prove that white people are proportionately more likely to be murdered in a racial attack.

Vinnie Tomlinson, the chair of Merseyside’s Black Police Association has stated that ‘A form of apartheid is rife in Liverpool’. Mr Tomlinson said there were certain areas of the city he would ‘not want to work or socialise in because of the colour of his skin’. The areas were not mentioned which does not help much and leaves us playing a guessing game until we find out.

Knowsley Council is a proud beacon of new Labour. One of its boasts is a hard line approach towards benefit claimants.

This is despite recent Government figures that confirm nineteen out of twenty one electoral wards under the Council’s control are classified as very deprived.

This the highest category used by the Government.

What Cllr Mark Dowd should have sang the day his “Alistair Darling” axed Merseytram.

One of the unedifying characteristics of new labourites is their reluctance to face the truth even when it stares them in the face. Since their Government axed the proposed Kirkby- Liverpool Tram, ( Line 1) Merseyside’s new labourites have been in a state of denial. Cllr M. Dowd blamed Liverpool’s Chief Executive, Sir David Henshaw. Yes it’s that man again !

A return to some humour with a full length cartoon strip featuring The Scallies. This cartoon strip has sat around for a year or so and shows our two heroes of the streets discovering the joys and woes of racism.

This episode introduces ‘Davo’, a black scally who is ostracised for being black. Contains some rude words, but starred out. As ever, parental or adult guidance is always the ball in your court.
