I wonder is it really beneficial throwing him into nick, where even the skinny little thieving ‘wag-head’ (skag head or heroin addict) might put on a bit of weight and tone up the muscles.

Why put him in hogs heaven?

As for the incident were a young lad died - (reported as Gary Kelly)it is hard to find anything online to authenticate the story in full.

It would be good to find the actual reporting in local papers at the time - see what really did occur. Then we’d likely be first to publish news, that is not as yet published online.

the story of the young lad and the train line is definitely true, approx 15 years or more ago…it was well documented at the time so shouldn’t bet that hard to dig up on the net.

“MP shot dead in protest over gun crime”

Police are looking for someone with a grudge against a politician, and will be carrying out door to door enquiries across the length and breadth of the UK!

Hi to all at Kirkby Times. Just stumbled on your site for the first time…it’s excellent. I was from Westvale and attended St Kev’s 61-66. It was great to read some of the comments and see the pic of the teachers all together.
The piece mentioned that there are other pics of the school and teachers. How can I get hold of them or view them? There doesn’t seem to be a link in the piece.
Do you have any records/pics etc of Arun Mawr…We used to go there for school holidays. It’d be fantastic to jog my memory. Hope to hear from you soon.

Well said Spit.

There’s a lot of lads with dogs, and I’ve noticed the return of the greyhound and a few more traditional English dogs rather than the ones raised by our American cousins.

As for greyhound racing, I could see a bit of a crowd going for that sort of night out.

Never seen the mechanical rabbit on the rail - nor the traps opening up and the dogs going like the blazes.

Must be quite a sight to see.

The upper classes drink champagne then ride horses after their dogs to chase a live fox, ripping it to pieces.

The working class go to the time and trouble to build a mechanical rabbit, sit down and watch their dogs run after it. First dog over the line is the winner, then everyone has a drink afterwards.

I guess Knowsley council would sooner see Prince Charles ‘bravely’ dropping some overfed pheasant (probably drug em also) with a blast of his shotgun.

They would welcome that.

But not the lads with greyhounds.
